Just because it's time...

So we've made the decision to go to a private blog. Tonight we looked at who is checking in, and lets be honest we don't know anyone in several countries that are visiting. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my family...We just want everyone we know to join us at our new sight. If you would like an invite just leave me your email!

Then join us at www.oureverydayhowelllife.blogspot.com

I'd like a little well seasoned perspective...

I know i've been terrible at blogging. I've had a lot of different reasons, but you know how once you are behind, getting caught up feels more like climbing mount everest than updating a blog...but I think I may have found a place where little updates are do-able, and even fun. I've been looking for perspective, as a parent, as a home maker, family accountant, personal tutor, preschool teacher, not-so-gourmet chef of my own dine-in/take-out restaurant...you know the life of a stay at home mom of 4 lively kids and wife to a husband getting another degree while working full time 1 1/2 hours away from home every day , and finally i feel like i've found it....call it perspective, balance, what ever you want. But for the moment i'm there. My house is clean and has been kept such for weeks...that is a big deal with my kids still being allowed to play...they just help clean it up! The dishes are done, which means my husband is the happiest he's been in 8+ years, I've even had time to sing to, play with and read to my kids today. Success. I attribute a big chunk of it to my youngest being 19 months and for the first time since i started having kids, my youngest is that old, and i'm not pregnant. Instead i'm enjoying my four little kids and thinking about potty training for the last time and and being done buying diapers. So with my new found perspective, my clean house and my kids having more of my attention, i'm going to see if I can't blog small amounts more often...and for those of you who asked...i'm even going to post some pictures of our "new" house in the next couple of days! But for now here is one of my baby, who isn't much of a baby any more. It makes me happy just to have more time to hold her and let her give me big hugs around the neck and great big kisses...she still melts my heart every time I look at her...I've told people she is my little thank you gift from God for having one last baby, and I'm sure it's true. Who wouldn't melt having this darling little monkey call you MAMA!

Just because she makes us laugh...

Addie is SOOO full of life and personality. Most days, most moments there just aren't words to describe. She does everything whole heartedly, wether it's being dramatic, naughty, or cracking us up...she spares no emotion. Here are some pictures of her from the past few weeks, just so you can all see the big girl she is becoming.

Merry Christmas to all...

The holidays were a little different for us this year, but it was a very enjoyable Christmas filled with the wonders of children. Everything is so magical though their eyes. Jared spent part of december in Guatemala doing humanitarian work with a group of his students which was an amazing experience for him, and since it would have meant almost two lonely weeks at home for the rest of us, our Mimi came to stay with us. It was wonderful to have my mom here to join in some of the holiday festivities like christmas shopping, riding the holiday lights trolley, and visiting Santa. After Jared was back home my mom flew home and the kids school continued until the 23rd...a first for us. We enjoyed Christmas alone on purpose for the first time. For the past two years we have hosted family at our house for christmas, and although we really missed their company this year our Christmas alone was wonderful..as was the next two weeks of time off for the kids. We hope all of our friends and family also had a wonderful Christmas...and to think only 11 months until we do it all again...

The reason for the season...

The kids had the opportunity to act out the nativity twice this year. Once with Jason and Becca in a live nativity, notice the LIVE sheep! It was an amazing night, and the winds and snow made for a stunning production. The kids did the nativity again on Christmas eve this time with some friends and it was again darling, no real animals this time, but Jared did make a great donkey if I do say so myself! A huge thank you to Jason and Becca for the opportunity of being part of their shepherd family and having such a night to remember! And to the Clarks and Thomas's for sharing Christmas eve with us.

We live in a beautiful place!

We get to spend quite a bit of time in the city compared to most suburb dweller families, but this last time we were armed with a camera, tripod and a couple of hours to kill before Jared was ready to leave town...what fun we had!

Fall is coming and going all at once...

We have had odd weather...it's warm, then freezing...then warm again, and then freezing. It's happened several times lately. We wear T-shirts to school, then coats which come home inside the kids backpacks because it warmed up during the day, and then this week I believe the cold came to stay. It got cold enough over night that every leaf on our property fell all at once...and believe me it's a lot of leaves!! The kids first hurrah in the leaves was fabulous and we really enjoyed piling them up over and over and spending days jumping into them. What great free fun! Thank you mother nature! PS...please make it a mild winter...I'm a wimp. Thanks.
